Cannon Cultures is honored to sponsor a performance by Meskwaki Native American Larry Yazzie
for Native American Heritage Month. A renowned dancer who has been invited repeatedly to the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian to perform, Mr. Yazzie will dance, sing, and tell stories while wearing traditional regalia.
There’s no better way to prepare and inspire the children for the Thanksgiving season than with an authentic, interactive Native American experience!
This is an exciting opportunity for the children, as Mr. Yazzie is traveling from Minnesota to present at UNCC and also be our guest. He is a Champion Powwow Men's Fancy Dancer, an Eagle Dancer, and also plays the Native American Flute. He says his mission is “to educate, inspire, motivate and empower diverse communities to bridge cultural gaps through Indigenous traditions
Cannon Cultures president Sheetal Patel says, “If kids can actually see with their own eyes that Native Americans have their own carefully preserved, vibrant traditions, they will value the Native American perspective and gain an appreciation for this art form that is so outside their ordinary".
We hope to see you there,
