Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Cannon School is searching for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning (S/C) Coach for its athletic program. The Assistant S/C Coach reports directly to the Head S/C Coach. Cannon’s S/C includes a required curriculum for all varsity and JV in-season athletes, as well as an optional curriculum for off-season athletes. Most middle school teams also work out twice per week in season. The successful candidate is expected to have a four-year degree in a field closely related to exercise science and experience coaching in the area of strength and conditioning. The position is a year-round (including summers) part-time position of approximately 25 hours per week. Middle School Mandarin Chinese Teacher – part time
The Middle School World Languages Department is currently seeking candidates for a part-time Mandarin Chinese teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year. Our ideal candidate is a relational and passionate language teacher with several years of experience in teaching both middle-school and high-school students. This position requires native or advanced-level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. The candidate must be fluent in English. Primary duties would involve teaching in the Middle School, with the potential of adding Upper School and advanced level classes in the future.
The ideal candidate works well in both departmental and grade-level teams, relates well to students, parents, and colleagues, and has a growth mindset. Additional subject-area teaching expertise is of interest, and experience working with standards-based grading would be helpful, but not required.
A Bachelor’s degree is requisite, and a Master’s degree is preferred.
Lower School Teacher
We are currently seeking candidates for the 2019-2020 school year. The full-time Lower School Teacher will instruct students in reading and reading strategies, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math and social studies while creating a positive, engaging and nurturing environment for learning. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the elementary classroom, a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families, knowledge of differentiated instruction, and will also be flexible, collaborative, a team player, knowledgeable of child development, a lifelong learner, and possess a true love and passion for young children and their educational success. Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related educational field. At least 2 years experience in an elementary classroom.
Upper School Math Teacher
The Upper School Math Dept. at Cannon School seeks teaching candidates who are experienced in teaching courses ranging from Geometry to Precalculus. Ideal candidates will be able to teach a range of high school math courses and embrace innovative teaching practices and curriculum.
The Upper School teacher at Cannon School, provides a safe, nurturing environment for students utilizing the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, engaging developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to build strong foundational skills for lifelong learning.
Upper School Spanish Teacher
We are seeking candidates for a full-time Upper School Spanish teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate will have Advanced Mid or higher proficiency in Spanish and be fluent in English. This person will teach in the Upper School and will be instrumental in contributing to the growth of the World Language curriculum. Preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge of the ACTFL Proficiency Standards, who currently teach to the three modes of communication, who are dedicated to creating lessons and activities centered around the learner, possess proficient technology skills, and who implement authentic materials in the World Language classroom.
We are searching for someone who is adaptive and willing to adjust to differing student needs. This candidate will be open to professional development and feedback. In addition, this person must be highly organized, efficient, and someone who relates well with students, faculty, and parents. This person will work closely with our Upper School World Language Department. A willingness to participate in our growing exchange/travel programs is also a plus.
We are currently seeking candidates for our Transportation Department. The position hours are on an as needed basis and will provide back up coverage for regular routes and drive for sport and field trips. The ideal candidate will have a: valid CDL license with a P&S endorsement, prior driving experience, will be flexible, a team player and enjoy working with children.
