Alumni Spotlight: Gabbi Coppa '25

Gabbi Coppa '25, a freshman journalism student at the University of Texas at Austin, is already making her mark in the entertainment industry.

Last semester, Gabbi collaborated with a team of four classmates to write an original television pilot that has been selected for screening at the ATX TV Festival this May. Her project, The Queen, is now in the production stage.

The Queen is a psychological thriller that follows Willow, an anxious high school senior living in the shadow of her prom queen sister. After experiencing strange, otherworldly visions, Willow begins to question whether she is destined for extraordinary power or losing her grip on reality.

Gabbi credits her experience at Cannon with helping shape her creative journey. The story began in Mr. Dunn's writing class, where she first developed the concept.

Reflecting on her experience, Gabbi shared: "Not only did he help me with the story itself, but he also taught me how to navigate the creative process. When I am stuck, l revert to the skills I learned in his class, and feel better making decisions and 'just keep writing, something he would say often. Thank you, Mr. Dunn, and to everyone who supported me in high school. I am so lucky to have a strong community that is supportive even after leaving."

We are proud to see Gabbi continuing to build on the foundation she formed at Cannon and look forward to following her exciting journey with The Queen!
