Cannon School names new athletics director
Veteran administrator Katie LaRue will be Cannon School’s new athletics director, the school announced Tuesday.
LaRue, who replaces Pat Moyer in the position, will take over the Cannon athletics department on July 1, 2020.
LaRue has more than 13 years of experience in independent schools and is currently the top athletics director at the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, where she’s been since 2016.
Prior to her stint at the Madeira School, LaRue spent five years as the associate athletics director, girls basketball coach and volleyball coach at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. Before that, she spent four years as the assistant athletics director and girls basketball coach at Asheville School.
Now she returns to North Carolina.
“I am very excited to join Cannon School as the next Director of Athletics,” LaRue said, according to a school news release. “From the moment I stepped on campus, it was clear that Cannon is a caring community focused on developing quality relationships. Building a successful athletic program through leadership development and team building is my passion. I look forward to working alongside strong student-athletes, quality coaches, supportive parents and an active, involved community.”Read this article in Independent Tribune.
