Strength and Conditioning Program

Cannon's Strength and Conditioning program focuses on four key areas: injury prevention, sports performance, self-confidence, and fitness for life. Our full-time strength and conditioning coach, Shawn Powell, as well as our assistant coach, Travis Webb, work with student-athletes on a daily basis. As a result, they have noticed an increase in performance and a significant decrease in non-contact injuries. In fact, injury treatments decreased more than 60% in the center’s first two years of use.

The Strength and Conditioning program offers movement sessions that focus on straight ahead speed (SAS) and lateral speed and agility (LSA), as well as strength sessions. Student Athletes advance in the movement and strength progressions on their own individual time frame. The goal is for every student athlete at Cannon to participate in the program. Cannon offers a summer program for all Cannon athletes regardless of what sport they play at no extra cost.; there is no need for our athletes to go to other private facilities to train.
