School begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Students may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m.  Our After School Program for Lower and Middle School ends at 6:00 p.m.
 

Cannon's After School Program provides students with a comfortable, safe, and caring environment in which to participate in constructive activities during after school hours. The After School Program is available until 6:00 p.m. for students in junior kindergarten through eighth grade. There is an additional charge for these services, which can be used on an as-needed, drop-in basis. Also, enrichment programs and private music lessons are available through Beyond the Bell.

Cannon School does not offer merit scholarships. However, we do have a robust need-based financial aid program administered through Clarity Tuition. Parents complete financial aid application information online and Clarity calculates the family’s ability to pay tuition based on current income and assets. Cannon School’s Financial Aid Committee then uses that information to determine financial aid award amounts.

In addition to the standard readiness and entrance evaluations, the following criteria must be met:

• Junior Kindergarten students need to be 4 years old by the first day of school.  
• Kindergarten students need to be 5 years old by the first day of school.

Also:

• Children must be able to use the bathroom independently before enrolling in Cannon School.

Students in Lower School (grades junior kindergarten-fourth) wear coordinated dress. Visit the School Store webpage to order school uniforms through Lands' End or Tommy Hilfiger.
 
For fifth through twelfth grades, we have a dress code that emphasizes a clean, neat, and modest appearance.

Yes, our food service is provided by Flik Independent School Dining. Hot entrees, salad, and other nutritious options are available every day in our Dining Hall.

Yes, Cannon's buses cover four counties with convenient pick-up points in the Concord, Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, University City, and Salisbury areas. Buses stop at The Point, The Peninsula, River Run, Skybrook, Highland Creek, North Stone, and numerous other neighborhoods.

There is an additional fee for bus service. Round trip and one way options are available as well as an activity bus that caters to the Middle School sports team practice schedule.

Our students discover their individual voices and develop their creative problem-solving skills in music, theater, and visual arts. 

Junior kindergarten through fourth-grade students experience extensive art and music instruction by full-time instructors in large, dedicated spaces. In the spring, third through sixth-grade students have the opportunity to perform in a musical.

The Middle School arts program begins in fifth and sixth grades with a rotation of classes in chorus, strings, band, theater, and visual art. Seventh and eighth graders can choose two arts classes. 

In Upper School, students take a minimum of two year-long arts courses and are encouraged to take as many arts electives as ability and interest will allow. Many students participate in co-curricular theater and music programs and join the honors societies that exist for each arts discipline.

All students have opportunities to share their creative growth at art exhibitions, concerts, theater productions, and our spring all-arts event Arts Jam.

Yes, Spanish instruction begins in Junior Kindergarten.  5th grade students have the opportunity to experience French, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish during their first year of Middle School. Students can choose which of those three languages they would like to pursue moving forward
