Meet Our New Head of School

“At Cannon, I can feel the culture and the relationships guiding and feeding everything we are trying to accomplish for our students, families, and community. I look forward to us learning, innovating, and serving together.”

Christopher Jones, Head of School

Introducing Christopher Jones

As the Cannon School community celebrates our 50th anniversary year in 2019-2020, we also look forward to welcoming Mr. Christopher Jones as Cannon’s seventh Head of School.

Christopher, his wife, Allison, and their two children, Ella (age 10) and Ryan (age 7), officially joined the Cannon family on July 1, 2019 following their move from Chicago.

Christopher, a dynamic leader who values authenticity and kindness as much as growth and innovation, previously served the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools (Lab) as the Associate Director of Schools. Lab is an independent, nonsectarian school enrolling more than 2,160 students in Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 12. From its founding in 1896, Lab has been the home of progressive education, promoting the educational tenets of founders John and Alice Dewey.

Raised in Texas, Christopher was drawn to the University of Chicago to attend the College. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and serving with a cadre of fellow Army ROTC cadets, he joined the Lab team in various technology, program, and administrative roles. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a focus in corporate strategy. Since 2011, Christopher served as Lab’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and in 2016, was appointed Associate Director of Schools. He also served as Interim Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Development in 2018 and cherished teaching eighth-grade students a course on topics in decision making.

The Cannon community is excited for this momentous year—one in which we will honor our steadfast history and look ahead to our vibrant future under Christopher’s leadership.
