Head of Lower School


Cannon School is currently seeking candidates for the Head of Lower School leadership position. Open Positions

Cannon School seeks an enthusiastic and creative individual committed to adolescent education. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School. A Master’s degree in mathematics or a related field, and a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience are preferred. Qualified candidates should be able to teach all levels of middle school mathematics, including algebra one and geometry. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School students. Ability and interest in coaching at any level is a plus, but not required.
 
Cannon School is seeking candidates for a LS Science Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. The full-time LS Science Teacher will instruct students of all grade levels while providing a safe, nurturing environment for students in their classroom utilizing the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to continue to build strong foundational skills and habits of a scientist for lifelong learning. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, kindness and passion.
Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related educational field. At least 2 years experience in an elementary classroom.
 
We are currently seeking candidates for the 2020-2021 school year. The full-time Lower School Teacher will instruct students in reading and reading strategies, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math and social studies while creating a positive, engaging and nurturing environment for learning. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the elementary classroom, a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families, knowledge of differentiated instruction, and will also be flexible, collaborative, a team player, knowledgeable of child development, a life long learner, and possess a true love and passion for young children and their educational success. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, kindness and passion.

Cannon School is searching for an Upper School Academic Dean for the 2020-2021 school year. Under the direction of the Head of Upper School the US Academic Dean leads academic communications for the Upper School administrative team, department chairs, teachers, students, and parents in the Upper School. Working with the Jk-12 Director of Studies and the Head of Upper School, the US Academic Dean participates in and oversees the constant growth in curriculum and instruction in the Upper School. The US Academic Dean also teaches two sections in the Upper School. As such, the US Academic Dean must be an effective and motivating communicator, and he/she must be personable and approachable to teachers, students, and parents.  This is an 11-month administrative position.
 
 
Upper School Math Teacher
Cannon School is searching for an Upper School Math Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. 
 
Our ideal candidate is an experienced and adaptive mathematics educator with a student-centered pedagogical approach.  Additional responsibilities outside of the classroom may include being an advisor to approximately 12 students, coaching an after-school sport, sponsoring a club, etc.  The candidate must be willing to work with other teachers in a strong collaborative environment.  Effective communication skills and a willingness to try innovative teaching strategies and grading practices are essential.
 
A Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience are required.  Master’s degree and several years of teaching experience teaching courses such as Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry are preferred.

Camp Cannon - Jr. Counselor
Cannon School Camp Cannon is searching for Jr. Counselors for summer camp 2020.

The Camp Cannon – Jr. Counselor is responsible for supporting the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director in the day-to-day running & implementation of the Summer Camp program. This would include but not limited to: Check-in, Dismissal, Lunch Monitoring, and other miscellaneous items through the camp day.

The Camp Cannon Jr. Counselor is a considered a part-time position. However, the hours before and during camp sessions are full-time from early June through late July for a total of 8 weeks during the summer.
Additionally, they are responsible for working directly with a Camp Counselor, Coach or Instructor in their camp session. Jr. Counselors must be willing to provide child-care before AM camp session, during lunch and/or after the PM camp session.

All Jr. Counselors should be comfortable working with children ages Kindergarten – 8th grade, be dependable, enthusiastic and fun-loving. The Jr Counselor will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, passion and kindness.

Boys JV Tennis Coach 
Cannon School is searching for a JV Coach for the Boys’ Tennis program. Boys tennis is competed during the spring season. Official practices begin on Monday February 10 and the season is complete by the end of April. Practices begin at 3:30 pm and are finished at 5:15. The JV coach is expected to attend all practices and games. The successful candidate is expected to have coaching and/or playing experience. Applicants will need to complete a background check and drug screening upon being offered the position. This is a seasonal stipend position. Track and Field Throws Coach
Cannon School is searching for a Throws Coach for the Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field program. Track and Field is competed during the spring season.   Official practices begin on Monday February 10 and the season is complete by the Third weekend in May. Practices begin at 3:30 pm and are finished at 5:30. The throws coach is expected to attend all practices and games. The successful candidate is expected to have coaching and/or playing experience.
