Upper School

  • Upper School Teaching Fellowship

    Cannon School seeks three, full-time teaching fellows for the 2020-2021 school year. One fellow will work in our Lower School (grades JrK-4), one fellow will work in our middle school (grades 5-8), and one fellow will work in our upper school (grades 9-12).The Cannon School Fellow is designed to support the development of teachers and leaders in education. The Fellowship combines teaching, advising and administrative responsibilities to provide experience in a variety of independent school teaching and leadership roles. This is a 10-month position, beginning on August 9, 2021. Fellows will work closely with divisional leadership and will be responsible for assisting with student programming. Fellows will report directly to each division head. Upon completion of this one-year program, Fellows will be prepared for a number of career options in independent schools.

Middle School

  • Middle School English Teacher

    We are currently seeking relational, energetic, and growth-minded candidates for a full time Middle School English teacher position for the 2021-2022 school year. Our ideal candidate is a passionate educator with experience and/or specific interest in teaching English, including reading, writing, and grammar, in grades five through eight. Experience working with standards-based grading and teaching Humanities courses would be beneficial. This teacher will be expected to serve as an advisor and take on other duties outside the classroom as assigned. Interest in coaching or other extra-curricular activities is a plus.  Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required. Master’s degree and several years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Middle School PE Teacher - Part Time

    We are currently seeking relational, energetic, and growth-minded candidates for a part-time Middle School Physical Education teacher position for the 2021-2022 school year. Our ideal candidate is a passionate educator with experience and/or specific interest in teaching Physical Education, including health and wellness in grades five through eight. Experience working with standards-based grading would be beneficial. This teacher will be expected to take on other duties outside the classroom as assigned. Interest in coaching or other extra-curricular activities is a plus.  Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required. Master’s degree and several years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Middle School Social Studies Teacher

    We are currently seeking relational, energetic, and growth-minded candidates for a full time Middle School Social Studies teacher position for the 2021-2022 school year, with the potential for department leadership in the future. Our ideal candidate is a passionate educator with experience and/or specific interest in teaching history in grades five through eight. Experience working with standards-based grading and Humanities courses would be beneficial. This teacher will be expected to serve as an advisor and take on other duties outside the classroom as assigned. Interest in coaching or other extra-curricular activities is a plus.  Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required. Master’s degree and several years of teaching experience preferred.

Staff Positions

  • Athletic Grounds Coordinator

    Cannon School is searching for an Athletic Grounds Coordinator starting as soon as possible. The position is responsible for
    preparing and maintaining all campus athletic fields, courts and other playing surfaces.  In addition, the coordinator is responsible for evaluating and coordinating with internal and/or external suppliers for larger and more complex maintenance needs.  The position will interact frequently with other athletic personnel and will report to the Associate Athletic Director.  This position requires a high degree of autonomy, initiative and judgement.
  • Transportation - Spare Bus Driver

    We are currently seeking candidates for our Transportation Department. The ideal candidate will have a: valid CDL license with a P&S endorsement, prior driving experience, will be flexible, a team player and enjoy working with children. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, passion and kindness.

Coaching

  • Cheerleading Program Director (Fall 2021)

    The Head Cheer Coach provides leadership, organization and supervision for all aspects of the cheerleading program. The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for the teaching of sport-specific fundamentals and skills associated with their assigned sport, which includes but is not limited to; observing and evaluating performance, demonstrating proper techniques, and executing practice plans to improve student-athlete skill level. In addition, the Head Coach is responsible for providing strategic instruction to their student-athletes during practice and performances on certain situations relative to their instruction. The head coach is responsible for the management of all aspects of the cheer program including events and fundraisers. Serves as an on-court coach during practices and games, provides advice on strategy while evaluating player performance and demonstrating proper skills or techniques needed to perform at a high level. Candidates must be able to choreograph routines that incorporate dance, cheer, tumbling and stunting.
  • JV Football Assistant Coach (Fall 2021)

  • Varsity Football Defensive Assistant Coach (Fall 2021)

    We are currently looking for a Varsity Defensive Assistant coach that specializes in the development of Defensive Line. This position requires the coach to be an integral part of our culture, to provide a high level of energy and engagement with our players and coaches, to be a skilled communicator, as well as have the ability to develop the skills of our Defensive Linemen.
    This is a seasonal stipend position. 
  • Varsity Football Defensive Coordinator - Linebackers (Fall 2021)

    We are currently looking for a Varsity Defensive Coordinator. This position requires the coach to be an integral part of our culture, to provide a high level of energy and engagement with our players and coaches, to be a skilled communicator, as well as have the ability to organize practice plans and game plans for the defensive side of the ball. This position also requires the coach to have the ability to develop the skills of our Linebackers 
    This is a seasonal stipend position. 
  • Varsity Football Offensive Assistant Coach - Running Backs (Fall 2021)

    We are currently looking for a Varsity Offensive Assistant coach that specializes in the development of Running Backs. This position requires the coach to be an integral part of our culture, to provide a high level of energy and engagement with our players and coaches, to be a skilled communicator, as well as have the ability to develop the skills or our Running Backs.  
    This is a seasonal stipend position. 
  • Varsity Football Offensive Line Coach (Fall 2021)

     
    We are currently looking for a Varsity Offensive Line Coach that will also serve as the Offensive Run Game Coordinator. This position requires the coach to be an integral part of our culture, to provide a high level of energy and engagement with our players and coaches, to be a skilled communicator, as well as have the ability to develop game plans, practice scripts, as well as the overall development of our Offensive Linemen.
    This is a seasonal, stipend position.
