The Children’s Hour / Italian American Reconciliation
Two wildly different plays, each written by celebrated American playwrights and adapted to one-act length, will alternately explore the destructive force of lies and the life-giving power of plain-spoken truths. Lillian Hellman’s 1936 drama “The Children’s Hour” recounts the story of two New England boarding school teachers whose lives are torn apart by a single rumor. Tony/Oscar/Pulitzer Prize winning playwright John Patrick Shanley’s romantic comedy “Italian American Reconciliation” is populated by confused yet refreshingly guileless New Yorkers seeking to understand their own hearts. This theater experience is recommended for students 12 or older. Further details will be advertised in the weeks leading up to the show.
