Thank you to all who participated in the Virtual 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk, which ran from May 7 - May 24, 2020. This event was in support of our frontline heroes – our healthcare workers – working to fight within our hospitals during this time of uncertainty. 100% of the proceeds raised from this event will be split between Atrium Health and Novant Health to help with essential items.
Visit the Virtual 5K webpage to view the photo gallery of participants or to make a donation. Prize winners have been announced and are posted on the webpage.
Project JOY Connects Older Adults, High Schoolers for Conversation and Camaraderie
In this time of uncertainty and isolation, Cannon School junior Drake Griffith (pictured above, left) was certain of a few constants. Students would work to adapt to a home school situation. Adults would strive to create some sort of balance in this "new normal." And the senior citizen population, already isolated before the COVID-19 crisis, would struggle more than ever before to connect with others. That was how Drake felt about his own grandmother before she died just a few weeks ago.

Cannon's Boys Varsity Basketball Win State Championship
Cannon (27-6) finished the year on a nine-game win streak and won its first state championship in 14 years. The Cougars denied Charlotte Latin (22-8) its first title in 16 years.
Roth’s team led, pretty much, from start to finish, after winning the first quarter 19-7. But led by 6-foot senior guard RJ Johnson, who finished with 36 points, Latin made a big push in the fourth quarter.
