When Cannon School freshman Catie Kuralt of Concord decided to raise money for this year’s Leukemia and Lymphoma Light the Night Walk, she had big plans. She wanted to continue her family’s tradition of raising funds and awareness for this organization, and wanted to do it in memory of her father.

Jena Metwalli of Davidson, a 15-year-old sophomore at Cannon School, set a course record of 19:12 and beat the rest of the field by nearly 1 1/2 minutes in her team's final regular season meet on Oct. 8.

Cannon School eighth-grader Michael Sanders is one of the top players in the country in his age group, with juniorgolfscoreboard.com ranking him No. 1 in the state and 38th in the country in the Class of 2018.
