Cabarrus News baseball coach of the year: Rod Rachal, Cannon School

This year was full of firsts for Cannon. The Cougars finished 14-11 overall and 6-5 in the league and won its first state playoff game. Cannon won a conference series (Charlotte Latin) and recorded a conference series sweep (Providence Day) for the first time as well.

Empty Bowls Project

Cannon teachers Krista Johns and Emily Thompson along with Cannon fourth-grader Ellen Weinstock and seventh-grader Caleigh Campbell presented a donation of $1,079 to Cooperative Christian Ministry of Concord on May 14. They raised the money through an Empty Bowls Project event held at the school on March 12.
