Director of Human Resources:
 
The Director of Human Resources reports to the Director of Business and Finance and will work closely with other personnel in the Business Office. The Director supports the work of about 200 faculty and staff and is responsible for the entire life cycle of an employee – recruitment, hiring, assimilation, employee relations, benefits, morale and separations. This position provides strategic planning as it relates to Human Resources.
 
The skilled leader and HR professional will:
  • be an effective HR professional with experience in the competency areas of recruitment & selection, benefits, healthcare plans, wellness initiatives, employee development, diversity initiatives and performance management;
  • be a customer service driven leader who can enhance the development of a service-minded school and align HR practices with the organization’s strategic priorities:
  • move beyond the “transactions” of HR, instead seeking visionary ways to remove bureaucracy and streamline the implementation of effective ideas;
  • be a flexible, results oriented, self-starter who understands the academic-year cycle and can prioritize work accordingly;
  • be organized and able to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple tasks ;
  • manage challenging personnel situations, investigating situations, maintaining confidentiality, advising leadership and successfully handling situations to achieve the best outcomes for all;
  • be knowledgeable and experienced in applying both federal & state employment laws ensuring that Cannon remains in compliance including completing required reports and explaining those requirements to others on campus; 
  • provide training to the Head of School, Division Heads, and all those involved with employee decisions from hiring to termination;
  • lead employee on-boarding processes and manage the benefits program, including entering relevant information into Paycom;
  • demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • demonstrate competency in using Microsoft Office for written communication, data analysis, and presentations to the Cannon community.
Qualifications:  Minimum of a BA degree; minimum of 4 years of well-rounded experience in HR required, with a strong preference for an HR generalist background; experience with Human Capital Management software preferred (e.g., Paycom); PHR preferred (or willingness to complete the PHR)

Part-Time/Full-Time Upper School Social Studies Teacher, Starting in August 2016
 
We are currently seeking candidates for a part time or full time Upper School Social Studies teacher position for the 2016-2017 school year.  Our ideal candidate is experienced at teaching a range of high school Social Studies courses, including world and U.S. History. This teacher may also be asked to serve as advisor for 10-12 students, or to take on other limited duties outside the classroom.  Interest in coaching or other extra-curricular activities is a plus.   Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required. Masters degree and several years of teaching experience preferred.  


MS Mathematics Teacher

Cannon School seeks a Middle School Mathematics teacher who will teach four sections of mathematics for the 2016-2017 school year. The teacher will seek to develop interdisciplinary projects with other members of the core grade-level faculty, serve on the grade-level curricular team, and subsequently, as an advisor. The ideal candidate will actively participate in the life of the school outside of the classroom and perform other non-teaching duties as assigned. Requirements: We seek an enthusiastic and creative individual committed to adolescent education. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School. A Master’s degree in mathematics or a related field, and a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience are preferred. Qualified candidates should be able to teach all levels of middle school mathematics, including algebra one and geometry. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School students. Ability and interest in coaching at any level is a plus, but not required.



Part-time Middle School Chorus Teacher

Cannon School seeks a teacher who will teach one section of 5th Grade Chorus and two sections of 5-6th Grade General Music.  The teacher will work closely with other music faculty in order to build a cohesive and dynamic music program.  Requirements: Cannon School seeks an enthusiastic and creative individual committed to adolescent education.  Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Music is required and a Master’s degree in Music or a related field is preferred.  A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience is preferred.  Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of students.  


Lower School Teacher
 
We are currently seeking candidates for the 2016-2017 school year. The Lower School teacher will instruct students in reading and reading strategies, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math, and social studies, while creating a positive, engaging and nurturing environment for learning. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the elementary classroom, a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families, knowledge of differentiated instruction, and will also be flexible, collaborative, a team player, knowledgeable of child development, a lifelong learner, and possess a true love and passion for young children and their educational success. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, kindness and passion.  Education/Experience Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related educational field. At least 2 years experience in an elementary classroom.


Middle School Band Teacher
 
Cannon School seeks a teacher who will teach four sections of Middle School band and two Arts Exploration classes. The teacher will work closely with other music faculty in order to build a cohesive and dynamic music program. The ideal candidate will actively participate in the life of the school outside the classroom and perform other non-teaching duties as assigned (including advisory). Requirements: We seek an enthusiastic and creative individual committed to adolescent education. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School. A bachelor’s degree in music is required and a master’s degree in music or a related field is preferred. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of students. Ability and interest in after-school activities at any level is preferred (i.e. teaching private lessons, directing a pep band or other).

Website and Digital Content Coordinator


The Website and Digital Content Coordinator, a member of the Office of Advancement reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, is responsible for the maintenance and development of Cannon School’s online presence. The Coordinator actively communicates and collaborates with key school divisions and departments whose content drives major portions of the website. This individual will be proactive in ensuring that the school, students, faculty, and staff are portrayed in a positive manner online and with consistency to the school’s branding guidelines. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of two years' experience managing a website using a content management system to build pages, update pages, and maintain calendars, forms, directories, downloads, etc. Candidates must possess an understanding of HTML, SEO, and Google Analytics and demonstrate strong proofreading skills and the ability to re-purpose written content for website, blogs, and social media channels. Part-time Teaching Position – Upper School Science: Chemistry and Biology

The Upper School Science department is seeking an outstanding educator who is accomplished in teaching Chemistry and Biology. The ideal candidate will have a degree in either biology or chemistry and experience teaching both, with a track record of fostering high achievement and strong student relationships. This person should be at their best when working collaboratively with other science teachers. He or she must possess a growth mindset and be willing to develop as a leader in the department. Other opportunities for involvement in the Cannon School community include coaching, sponsoring a club, leading field trips, etc. It is very possible that this part-time position could become a full-time position for the 2017-2018 school year.
