Associate Director of Admission
 
The Associate Director of Admission, reporting to the Director of Admission, is a leadership position designed to assure that prospective and applicant families in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 receive high quality customer service at all stages of the application process. The Associate Director of Admission works closely with children and parents, understands Cannon School’s curriculum and athletics and arts programs, and appreciates Cannon School’s position in the context of the Charlotte region and as a National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) member school. The Associate Director of Admission is a member of the Lower School administrative team as Early Childhood Coordinator.
 
Experience and Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in education. Three to five years of Lower School teaching experience.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead in recruitment, assessment, marketing, admission, and enrollment for Lower School and 5th grade
  • Work with Lower School Head and Lower School faculty to develop and continually assess criteria for admission into grades JrK-5
  • Work with Lower School Head and Lower School faculty to develop best screening methods to discern strengths of applicants and the sense of fit
  • Build and maintain a partnership with Lower School faculty so that the process of assessing, admitting, and enrolling students is co-owned
  • Oversee the building of relationships -- from inquiry to enrollment -- with families applying to Cannon in grades JrK-5
  • Build and maintain relationships with area preschool directors and feeder schools

Bus Driver

We are currently seeking candidates for our Transportation Department. The ideal candidate will: have a valid CDL license with a P&S endorsement, prior driving experience, will be flexible, a team player and enjoy working with children. Private Lesson Instructor - Strings

We are currently seeking candidates for the 2016-2017 school year. The Private Lesson Instructor will teach private strings lessons to students after school. Violin skills are required but would prefer someone who can play viola, cello, and bass as well. Student ages range from Kindergarten through 12th grade with a variety of skill levels. Must be available 
one to two days a week during the school year between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. 
 
 
Alumni Relations Manager
 
Reporting to the Director of Advancement and working closely with Alumni Board, the Alumni Relations Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and events that strategically engage alumni and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current students. Serving as an ambassador, the Alumni Relations manager is charged with collaborating with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to, Advancement, College Counseling, Athletics and Admissions) to create and maintain pathways for alumni and alumni parent  involvement and support; providing the opportunity for alumni and alumni parent participation that advance the goals of the School; welcoming and engaging alumni and alumni parents as members of the Cannon community; implementing the archival of the School’s historical media (documents, photographs/video, records, memorabilia); and serving as a liaison between the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the academic and administrative leadership.


Responsibilities:
  • Serves as liaison with alumni from Cannon School as well as current students, especially those in the senior class; develop programs to maintain connections with our recent graduates.
  • Working with the Alumni Association, assist in the coordination of alumni events such as Homecoming, Reunions, holiday gatherings, sport scrimmages, and city-based get-togethers.
  • Assist in recruiting and coordinating committees of alumni volunteers for annual reunion events and other alumni programs.
  • Maintain a calendar of alumni events; assist in the production of invitations and logistical arrangements for events.
  • Manage a schedule to keep alumni parents informed and connected to Cannon School.
  • Working closely with advancement to set alumni giving and alumni parent giving solicitation calendar and fundraising goals.
  • Manage Alumni Relations budget, board slate, bylaws and meetings.
 
Requirements:
1-3 years of experience preferredBA required. Comfortable with fundraising and fundraising experience preferred.
 
Lower School PE Teacher
 
We are currently seeking candidates for the 2016-2017 school year. This teacher will work closely with the Lower School PE team to create fun, engaging, and purposeful learning experiences to increase fitness levels, develop coordination, strengthen gross motor skills, and cultivate an understanding of team game fundamentals. He/She will also instill in children the importance of integrity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education, a sincere love of the young child, as well as be collaborative, a team-player, flexible, and possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, kindness, integrity, respect and passion.
 
Education/Experience Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or health/sports-related field, at least 2 years classroom experience, knowledge of SPARK curriculum preferred, but not required.

 
Long Term Substitute for Maternity Leave in Second Grade
 
We are currently seeking candidates for the 2016-2017 school year who would be willing to cover maternity leave for a second grade teacher. The long-term substitute teacher will work with the classroom assistant to instruct students in reading and reading strategies, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, math, and social studies, while creating a positive, engaging and nurturing environment for learning. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in the elementary classroom, a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families, knowledge of differentiated instruction, and will also be flexible, collaborative, a team player, knowledgeable of child development, a lifelong learner, and possess a true love and passion for young children and their educational success. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, kindness and passion.

Interim Kindergarten Teacher
