Available Positions

Private Lesson Instructor - Strings

We are currently seeking candidates for the 2013-2014 school year. The Private Lesson Instructor will teach private strings lessons to students after school. Violin skills are a must but we would prefer someone who can play viola, cello, and bass as well.  Student ages range from Junior Kindergarten through 12th grade with a variety of skill levels.  Must be available two to three days a week during the school year between 1:30 and 5:00 pm.


MS Visual Arts Teacher
 
We are currently seeking candidates who will teach Middle School visual arts and assist with major art department exhibitions and events in the 2013-2014 school year. The teacher will work closely with other arts faculty in order to build a cohesive and dynamic arts program. The ideal candidate will actively participate in the life of the School outside the classroom and perform other non-teaching duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements: Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fine arts, studio arts, art education, or visual arts and at least three years of teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of students.



Part-Time Piano Accompanist

We are currently seeking candidates for the 2013-2014 school year who play piano for two classes daily which includes four choirs. In addition the candidate will be asked to play for other minor events from time to time. The daily schedule is approximately 1.5-2 hours per day and the class time will vary each day. The ideal candidate must have prior experience. Flexibility with the daily schedule and excellent sight reading is a requirement of this position.

Our ideal candidate provides fundamental coaching that insures each player has the opportunity to achieve the highest level in team and individual play. Establishes philosophy and systematic approach to develop skills and interest at all levels. Instructs and instills in the student-athlete, Cannon School’s core values of courage, teamwork, passion, respect, integrity, and kindness through the opportunities associated with sports and athletics. Prior coaching experience is required and experience in playing the sport is preferred.
 

Pre-Kindergarten/Junior Kindergarten Teacher

We are currently seeking candidates for the 2013-2014 school year. The Pre-Kindergarten/Junior Kindergarten teacher will create a nurturing, safe environment for our youngest children; instructing our students in foundational literacy skills, math, and handwriting. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Pre-Kindergarten (4-5 year olds) classroom; a strong knowledge of developmental ages and familiarity with developmental educational programs; knowledge of differentiation and inquiry-based learning; a natural aptitude for cultivating relationships with students and families; and will also be flexible, collaborative, a team player, a lifelong learner, and possess a true love and passion for young children and their educational success. This candidate will also possess the qualities inherent in our core values of courage, teamwork, respect, integrity, passion, and kindness.

Education/experience requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood/elementary education or a related educational field. At least two years experience in an elementary classroom.


Upper School Technology Coordinator

The Upper School Technology Coordinator serves as a full member of the Upper School faculty and Upper School administrative team, helping to facilitate and lead all aspects of technology-use in the Upper School academic program as well as other technology initiatives that enhance the day-to-day life of students and teachers. As a member of the School Technology Team, it is the division coordinator’s responsibility to ensure that all Upper School planning for technology is coordinated with the other divisions and with the I.T. staff. The coordinator is responsible for implementation, training, and support for new technology initiatives in the division. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing technology in a 1:1 tablet classroom environment as well as a passion for leading innovation in teaching and learning.

Education/experience requirements: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in secondary education or instructional technology is preferred. At least two years teaching experience in a secondary classroom is preferred.
