Marketing and Communications Manager

The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications as part of the Office of Advancement, and is responsible for managing Cannon School’s strategic marketing initiatives and assisting with communications programs. Responsibilities include planning the annual enrollment strategy with the Director of Admission; overseeing the annual advertising schedule and production of ads; writing press releases and developing story pitches; helping to monitor Cannon’s editorial and graphic standards; providing basic graphic design support and managing agency vendors; planning photography, and engaging in special projects as needed.

Education/Experience: Experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written, editorial, and communication skills, be constituent-focused, manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently, and be a team player. Three to five years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field. Non-profit or education experience preferred.

Private Lesson Instructors:

We are currently seeking candidates for the 2014-2015 school year. The Private Lesson Instructor will teach private lessons to students after school. Instrument skills are a must but we would prefer someone who can play a variety of instruments. Student ages range from Junior Kindergarten through fourth grade with a variety of skill levels. Must be available two to three days a week during the school year between 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.


Coaching Positions:


Head Softball Coach

Cannon School is searching for a head softball coach for its varsity softball program. The head coach of the varsity program also sets the vision for the middle school softball program. The season will run from the middle of February through the middle of May. For the purpose of injury prevention and preparation, it is expected that pitchers and catchers begin part-time workouts in January. Cannon competes in the competitive CISAA conference, which is part of the statewide NCISAA organization. Cannon won an NCISAA State Championship in 2011. The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of the softball program including, but not limited to, communication with parents and athletes, practice planning, game coaching, articulating a vision for the softball program, and the development of the student-athletes.

Experience/education: Previous softball coaching experience at the high school level is expected, where the candidate has displayed effective leadership, communication, and coaching. A strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept and a working knowledge of high school rules and regulations is also required. This is a seasonal stipend position.

Head Wrestling Coach

Cannon School is searching for a head wrestling coach for its middle school wrestling program. The program is just beginning so this will be Cannon’s first wrestling coach. For this first season, the team will practice three times per week: two evenings and one Saturday practice. The season will run from the last week in October through the end of January. Cannon middle school teams are part of the Greater Charlotte Middle School Athletic Association (GCMSAA). The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of the middle school wrestling program including, but not limited to, communication with parents and athletes, practice planning, match coaching, articulating a vision for the middle school wrestling program, and the development of the student-athletes.

Experience/education: Previous wrestling coaching experience is expected, where the candidate has displayed effective leadership, communication, and coaching. A strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept and a working knowledge of high school rules and regulations is also required. This is a seasonal stipend position.
