The successful candidate will have depth in building cross-functional teams and delivering excellent service to all internal customers by finding win-win solutions for applying innovations in technology while creating a safe and secure IT environment. About the Technology Environment and the Position: Technology at Cannon School is supported by eight FTE, including the Director. The Director of Institutional Technology will oversee a department of four Information Technology (IT) staff with 3 Educational Technology experts working closely with the teachers. The department supports over 1200 users (200 faculty and staff and 1000 students) and about 1050 devices campus wide. Technical expertise on campus supports a learning management system (Haiku), Google Apps for students and other Cloud based solutions, along with MS Office. Devices range from PCs, Macs, laptops and iPads to mobile devices. The three Educational Technology (ET) personnel work within the respective academic divisions (lower, middle and upper schools). Qualifications: Minimum of a BA degree in computer science, educational technology or related field; MA or M.Ed. highly preferred; minimum of 4 years of well-rounded experience in IT, with strong preference for background in educational technology, ideally with Independent schools and 2 or more years experience leading an IT or ET team.

MS Mathematics Teacher
Cannon School seeks a Middle School Mathematics teacher who will teach four sections of mathematics for the 2015-2016 school year. The teacher will seek to develop interdisciplinary projects with other members of the core grade-level faculty, serve on the grade-level curricular team, and subsequently, as an advisor. The ideal candidate will actively participate in the life of the school outside of the classroom and perform other non-teaching duties as assigned. Requirements Cannon School seeks an enthusiastic and creative individual committed to adolescent education. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in the content area and pedagogy for Middle School. A Master’s degree in mathematics or a related field, and a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience are preferred. Qualified candidates should be able to teach all levels of middle school mathematics, including algebra one and geometry. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, high expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the developmental needs of Middle School students. Ability and interest in coaching at any level is a plus, but not required.
Middle School World Language Teacher
We are seeking an energetic, creative teacher for French and Spanish for grades 5-8. This is a full-time position for the 2015-2016 school year. Successful candidates will have personal skills to work flexibly and adaptably with students within this age range. The French and Spanish teacher is a member of the Middle School World Languages team and reports to the Head of Middle School. The curriculum for these classes offers both structure and freedom for the teacher. Outside of world languages teaching responsibilities, the teacher will also be asked to be an advisor to approximately ten students, serving as a personal advocate and check-in point for that group of students every day throughout the school year. Cannon School welcomes candidates of diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications: BA Degree minimum. A Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of teaching Spanish and French as a second language preferred. Candidate must be able to teach in both French and Spanish at any of the middle-school grade levels 5 through 8. Full-time Upper School Spanish Teacher
After Hours Business Office Admin. Assistant
The After Hours Business Office Administrative Assistant works to support the daily functions of the School from the hours of 3:30p.m.-6 p.m. This position interacts with faculty and staff as well as parents on a daily basis. Responsibilities: actively greet and welcome all visiting families and students, answer multi-line phone system, provide guidance to faculty, parents, students and visitors pertaining to questions, inquiries and a variety of requests, locate students and faculty members when needed, issue communications, as needed, via broadcast emails and overhead paging, be able to administer first aid, when needed, in the absence of the school nurse. Requirements: BA preferred, 1-3 years of experience preferred
We are seeking candidates for a full-time Upper School Spanish teaching position for the 2015-2016 school-year. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both Spanish and English and also have Upper School teaching experience. This person will teach in the Upper School and will be instrumental in contributing to the growth of the World Language curriculum. Knowledge of the ACTFL Proficiency Standards, AP Spanish Language and Culture curriculum, and implementation of authentic materials in the World Language classroom are desirable.
We are searching for someone who is adaptive and willing to adjust to differing student needs. This candidate will be open to professional development and feedback. In addition, this person must be highly organized, efficient, and someone who relates well with students, faculty, and parents. This person will work closely with our Upper School World Language Department and will collaborate with a wide range of other faculty members. A willingness to participate in our growing exchange program is also a plus. Cannon faculty are assigned a variety of duties including, but not limited to advising students, leading extra-curricular activities, and attending faculty meetings.
Education/Experience Requirements: BA, preferably MA, in Spanish, Education or relevant study. 2-3 years minimal teaching experience, preferred.
Middle School Librarian
We are currently looking for a Middle School librarian for the 2015-2016 school year. The Middle School librarian will provide effective leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans for a comprehensive school library program. The Middle School librarian will also be responsible for teaching library skills to students in grades 5-8, will work closely with the technology coordinator to create programs that foster the development of effective research skills, and will serve as a resource Middle school teachers, students, and staff. The Middle School librarian will work closely with the Lower School and Upper School librarians in order to enhance the experience for all students JrK-12.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a librarian and a true passion for books and reading, as well as the ability to collaborate, be flexible, form positive, nurturing relationships with middle school students, and understand the necessities of the 21st century library. In addition, he/she will be a lifelong learner, who demonstrates our core values of courage, teamwork, integrity, respect, passion and kindness.
Education/Experience Requirements: Candidates should possess an MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution and at least 2 years’ experience in a middle school library.
Part-Time Visual Arts Teacher
We are currently seeking a Visual Arts teacher to begin in the Fall of 2015. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high school age students in a variety of art mediums. Cannon part-time faculty are encouraged to attend professional development and faculty meetings. Cannon arts faculty are also required to participate in extra-curricular arts activities, etc.
Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in arts education, fine or studio arts required. 1 year teaching experience preferred.
Upper School Math Teacher – Starting Fall 2015
Our ideal candidate is an experienced and adaptive mathematics educator with a student-centered pedagogical approach. Additional responsibilities outside of the classroom may include being an advisor to approximately 12 students, coaching an after-school sport, sponsoring a club, etc. The candidate must be willing to work with other teachers in a strong collaborative environment. Effective communication skills and technology experience are essential. This is full time position for the 2015/2016 school year.
Education/Experience Requirements: A Bachelor's degree and teaching experience are required. Master's degree and several years of teaching experience preferred.
