Cannon School’s athletic programs foster an environment for students to develop a number of skills outside of the classroom. With more than 30 sports teams, our programs promote a positive self-image, an understanding of teamwork and the development of physical, mental and social skills that last a lifetime.
Athletic teams have won state championships each year between 2001 and 2009. Cannon won the Wachovia Championship for the area’s most successful program three consecutive years.
Cannon School is a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) and a member of the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA). Other area public and private schools are also on our schedules, which provide our teams with strong competition.

The Cannon School baseball team beat Durham Academy 7-6.
Winning pitcher Devland Zakar struck out seven and hit a two-run double.
Also for Cannon (2-2), Scott Krusell had two hits and two RBI and Bradley Barnhart had two hits.
Cannon Middle beats Latin
The Cannon Middle School softball team beat Charlotte Latin 8-1.
Taylor Marks tripled and doubled, winning pitcher Carolyn Mitlehner had two hits and two RBI and Allie Grey had two hits, Mitlehner struck out eight as Cannon Middle improved to 3-1. |
