Athletics Overview

Cannon School’s athletic programs foster an environment for students to develop a number of skills outside of the classroom. With more than 30 sports teams, our programs promote a positive self-image, an understanding of teamwork and the development of physical, mental and social skills that last a lifetime.

Athletic teams have won state championships each year between 2001 and 2009. Cannon won the Wachovia Championship for the area’s most successful program three consecutive years.

Cannon School is a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) and a member of the Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA). Other area public and private schools are also on our schedules, which provide our teams with strong competition.

Three area players were named to the Associated Press all-state basketball team after helping their teams to standout seasons.

Lake Norman senior forward Paul Larsen, who helped lead the Wildcats to their first state title, was an all-state selection. Larsen was also MVP of the state title game.

Cannon School's Jarrell Eddie was also an all-state AP selection. Eddie, who will play at Virginia Tech next season, averaged nearly 25 points this season and scored well over 2,500 points in his career.

East Lincoln's Lindsy Wright was the only female from the area named to the all-state squad. Wright, who will play at Wake Forest next season, averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game and led her team to a Southern Piedmont Conference tournament title.
